Nobody ever wants to experience a tragedy like this, and no family should have to go through such heartbreak. At Retamar & Millian, we are truly grateful to have been able to help the Caballes family during this unimaginable time alongside Ben Whitman, Esq. We have handled many injury cases, but nothing can truly prepare anyone for a loss of this magnitude. We are so proud of Savannah and her four siblings for their strength and resilience in the face of such devastation. Their courage is an inspiration, and we are honored to have played a role in supporting them through this journey.
In December 2021, Sheryll Caballes tragically lost her life in a devastating fire at a Circle K gas station in Palm Harbor. While pumping gas, another vehicle struck the fuel dispenser, causing a fire that ultimately led to her passing. Her children, including 14-year-old Savannah, witnessed the horrific event.

The Caballes family filed a lawsuit against multiple defendants, including Circle K, arguing that the tragedy could have been prevented with better safety measures, such as additional bollards and properly functioning shear valves. In October 2024, the family reached a settlement with Circle K, marking the end of a long legal battle.
Attorney Richard Millian, who represented the family alongside Attorney Ben Whitman, highlighted the importance of safety measures at gas stations and advocated for changes to prevent future incidents. Despite their unimaginable loss, Savannah and her siblings continue to honor their mother’s memory by striving for success and spreading kindness.
The Caballes family's story is one of heartbreak, loss, and incredible perseverance. Their journey was recently featured on ABC Action News WFTS Tampa Bay, shedding light on the tragedy they endured and how they are moving forward. To read the full story, visit ABC Action News.
